Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the website for South Mountain Community Church (SMCC).  If you are looking for a new church home I encourage you to go to the "About Us" link on the right.  From there you can learn about our culture, our history and our beliefs.

We are a church that seeks to make the Bible understandable to those who haven't had a background in church.  At the same time we offer a variety of environments in which our people can take their next step of faith.  It is a high priority that SMCC be a place where you can belong before you believe.

If you already believe in Christ, we will be life-giving in the way you will be invited to take your next step in your faith journey.  If you are looking for a church that is committed to grace and truth, then we invite you to visit us at one of our four weekend services.

Where is the church?

SMCC has two campuses, one in Draper, UT and another in the Daybreak Community Center in South Jordan, UT.

What are the service times?

SMCC has four identical services each weekend, three at the Draper campus and one at the Daybreak campus.  Generally, the speaker is the same at all services on a weekend and they will deliver the same message at all services.

Draper campus:                                   Daybreak campus:
Saturday       6:00 PM                           Sunday, 10:30 AM
Sunday         9:30 AM
Sunday         11:15 AM

What are the worship services like?

Our services tend to run about an hour and ten minutes.  Generally, the first 25 minutes are filled with worship music and singing, then a message of about 35 minutes and usually one last song.  For more about SMCC's music, see below.

What are the sermons/messages like?"

The sermons are about 35 minutes long and come from our Pastor's interaction with the Bible and everyday experiences.  The sermons aim to be understandable, Biblically accurate, helpful and hopeful.

You don't need to bring your Bible (you can – no problem) since all the scripture passages are projected on a video screen for your benefit.  An outline is given out each week to help the listener follow along and take home the things that they have learned.

How would you describe the music?

Many gifted musicians and singers attend SMCC.  We have a full band every Sunday, with electric and acoustic guitars, drums, keyboards and usually two or three singers.  Our worship music is in the style of music you'd hear on the radio.  If you have iTunes loaded on your computer, you can click here for a sampling of songs we're playing.

All guests receive a custom CD which showcases the original works of a number of the musicians and singers you'll hear regularly at a weekend service.

How about my kids?
Our children's ministry, Heartland, is designed to provide a safe and fun environment for your child, from infant through sixth grade.  Children are taught hopeful Bible-centered lessons, which reinforce many of the same messages taught to adults in an age appropriate fashion.  For more information about the children's ministry please click here

On your first visit to SMCC, please stop by the Children's Guest Check-in Booth  (just inside the front door) where we'll ask you to provide basic information about you and your child (name, address, phone, allergies, etc.). We'll then take you and your children to one of the environments which have been designed with your children in mind.

During subsequent visits, you'll be given Express Pass to check in your children at the self check-in booths located at the entrance of the Cafe.

Junior high and middle school students are invited to participate in BLUR (Believing Life's Ultimate Reality) at either the Saturday night service in Draper, the 9:30 AM Sunday service in Draper, or at the 10:30 AM Sunday service in Daybreak.  For more information on BLUR, please click here.

Senior high school students are invited to participate in SURGE (Something U Really Gotta Experience), which meets during the 11:15 AM Sunday service at the Draper campus.  For more information on SURGE, please click here.

What should I wear?
Whatever enables you to feel comfortable.  Some SMCC attenders are in jeans, some in shorts, some in dresses and even a few in a shirt and tie.  We want you to come as you are and to feel welcome. After all, it is not about what you wear, but instead about the fact you're here.

Can I get a preview of a sermon?
More than six months of sermons are posted on this web page, in both audio and video formats.  Click here to jump to the media page.

Are the services interpreted and/or translated?
The 9:15 AM Sunday service at the Draper Campus is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

The sermon notes are available translated into Spanish each weekend and are available at the Guest Central Booth at the Draper Campus.
